APPOINTMENT OF NEW DIRECTOR
Baroness Deborah Ann Wilcox is a former teacher and Welsh Labour councillor. She has served as Leader of Newport city council and as Head of the Welsh Government Association.
Wilcox was one of the 4 person panel, chaired by Martin Forde KC, to investigate the leaked report detailing investigations of antisemitism within the Labour Party. Her appointment to the Forde inquiry was challenged by left-wing members of the NEC, one anonymous member stating:
“Baroness Debbie Wilcox was a high-profile supporter of Keir…who has liked tweets attacking Corbyn and Unite the Union and promoting right-wing faction Labour First’s NEC slate.”
Wilcox was nominated for her seat in the House of Lords by then Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn.
