Complaint to the BBC on Newsnight’s “Hard Left” Slur

Not the first time Newsnight have misrepresented Jeremy Corbyn

We write to complain about non-impartial use of language during the Newsnight programme broadcast on the 21st of September 2021.

On three occasions the presenter of the show, Emily Maitlis, used the term “hard left” to refer to a sector of the Labour Party, inferring then making explicit that Jeremy Corbyn belongs to said “hard left”.

Keir Starmer’s 10 Socialist Pledges: Forensic Gaslighting?

It’s just over a year since Keir Starmer swept to victory in the 2020 Labour Party leadership election. Front and centre of his campaign were 10 Socialist Pledges, a commitment to progressive manifesto pledges and policy statements forged under the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn.

As centrist journalists never tire of explaining, Starmer is a canny political operator. Were his socialist pledges statements of principle or a cynical attempt to win the support of the contingent of left-wing members who propelled Corbyn to two leadership victories?

We look at the pledges a year on to see how long each one lasted..

Complaint to the BBC on Laura Kuenssberg

We write to complain about a piece BBC political editor Laura Kuennsberg delivered on BBC News at Ten on 17/11/2020. The subject of the piece was Keir Starmer’s decision to deny the parliamentary whip to Jeremy Corbyn and also appeared on the BBC website in article form – https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-54996354

We believe Ms Kuennsberg’s piece was heavily skewed and violated impartiality guidelines.

LABOUR: A HOUSE DIVIDED?

Will the house stand?

“A house divided against itself cannot stand…” wrote Abraham Lincoln. “I do not expect the Union to be dissolved-I do not expect the house to fall-but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing, or all the other.”

After the moribund post-Blairite years, Jeremy Corbyn was elected leader of the Labour Party in 2015. Since then Labour, and the wider labour movement, has been ravaged by repeated schisms, along ideological fault-lines, for control of the party.

Now, with the new leadership team of Kier Starmer, a newly elected NEC and the prospect of three influential General Secretaries of Trade Unions stepping down in the coming months, the debate about the future of the Party has been reignited with a renewed sense of urgency.

MARGARET BECKETT AND THE TRIBUNE GROUP: STARMER’S FIFTH COLUMN?

Starmer’s Fifth Column?

As we were conducting research into individuals registered as donors to Keir Starmer, we encountered an intriguing anomaly. A donor to Starmer named Helen Rowe, on whom we have been unable to corroborate further details, had also donated £10,000 to an entity called The Labour Tribune MP’s Group.

The Complete Catalogue of Corporate Media Hypocrisy Concerning Jeremy Corbyn

We have previously documented the extraordinary campaign by Blairite elements of the Labour party and the corporate media to tar Jeremy Corbyn with the stigma of anti-Semitism (in spite of his lengthy record as an anti-racist campaigner including 50 occasions where he has stood with the Jewish community).

The double-standards employed to do so have been so shameless and Orwellian we feel compelled to document them.

ISSUE 1 – The Campaign Against Corbyn

Jeremy Corbyn has spent decades serving his parliamentary constituency and campaigning on issues like gay rights, anti-racism, anti-Apartheid and against acts of war such as the UK-US invasion of Iraq.

How this man came to be viewed as a “threat to national security”1 and “an existential threat to Jewish life”2 is a remarkable demonstration of the mainstream media’s ability to distort reality.
